Local Transportation in Osaki-Kamijima

Osaki-Kamijima is an island located in the Seto Inland Sea, covering approximately 38.27 square kilometers with a perimeter of about 34 km. You can circle the entire island by bicycle in around 2.5 hours, or by car in about an hour, making it possible to enjoy the whole island even on a day trip. This “just-right” size is one of Osaki-Kamijima’s many charms.

Osaki-Kamijima Loop Bus

The Osaki-Kamijima Loop Bus is a convenient service that connects the island’s major areas.

Operating days: Monday to Saturday (No service on Sundays, public holidays, and Jan 1–3)
Fare: 100 yen for adults, 50 yen for children
Route: Circulates around the island in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions, connecting key ports and settlements

Otohime Bus (Fixed-route type)

The Otohime Bus (Fixed-route) is a community bus operated by Osaki-Kamijima Town, running on a regular schedule and connecting the island’s main areas.

Operating days: Monday to Saturday (No service on Sundays, public holidays, and Jan 1–3)
Fare:
- Adults: 200 yen
- Children (elementary school and under): 100 yen
- Preschoolers: Free (1 per accompanying adult)
- Persons with a disability certificate and one companion: 100 yen
- Exact change required

Otohime Bus (On-demand type)

The Otohime Bus (On-demand type) is a reservation-based shared ride service operated by Osaki-Kamijima Town. It offers more flexible travel options, particularly for areas or times not covered by regular bus routes.

Operating days: Year-round (Jan 1–3: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM only)
Operating hours: 7:00 AM – 9:00 PM
Fare:
- Adults: 200 yen
- Children (elementary school and under): 100 yen
- Preschoolers: Free (1 per accompanying adult)
- Persons with a disability certificate and one companion: 100 yen

Pickup/Drop-off Points: 145 designated locations including ports, public facilities, and residential areas
Vehicles: 4 vans (9 passenger capacity each; number of operating vehicles varies by time of day)

- Available from 3 days before the ride until 30 minutes prior to departure
- For rides between 7:00 AM and 7:30 AM, reservation must be made the day before

Tips
- Please be at the boarding point at least 5 minutes before the scheduled departure time.
- Pay the fare when you board the bus.
- Since this is a shared ride, arrival times may vary slightly depending on other passengers. Please allow for some flexibility in your schedule.
- Boarding is available only at designated points, but you may request to get off at other spots along the route—just let the driver know.
- If you need to cancel your ride, please do so via the website or by phone before the scheduled departure time.
