About the event
Step into the serene stillness of Era-tei, a beautifully preserved 150-year-old wooden residence nestled in a quiet mountain hamlet, just a short drive from the sea. In this timeless space where light and shadow gently dance, we are honored to present the first solo exhibition of emerging artist Hanba.
Through minimal yet powerful works, Hanba’s art invites us to pause and witness the subtle depth of human emotion—fragile, ambiguous, and beautifully imperfect.
This solo exhibition is part of the Kamijima Art Walk, one of the featured events within the Art Walk by the Sea.
There are two more related events:
May 3rd: The Sea That Reveals, and Somehow, I Breathe — Day 1
May 4th: The Sea That Reveals, and Somehow, I Breathe — Day 2
All events are part of the same exhibition.
About the Artist – Hanba
Born in 2005, based in Tokushima, Japan.
Hanba began drawing as a young child while watching her mother work in a local bakery. At age 13, she began exploring digital expression, developing a unique style that embraces muted tones and subtle expressions—never too clear, but always deeply felt.
“I try to express the small, fragile, and wavering parts of life and humanity — not necessarily real, not necessarily beautiful, not needing a reason —but still meaningful, simply because they belong to this human reality." — Hanba
