The Island

MORE ABOUT US
When I first visited Osakikamijima, I felt as if my core was connected to the ground, along with a nostalgic feeling that I knew this place and this landscape. The small island, which now has a population of 6,000, has long been a key point of maritime traffic, supporting cultural exchanges between Japan and the rest of the world, such as the Japanese Tang Dynasty envoys, as well as trade such as the Matsumae Boat.
While it retains these aspects today, its cosy environment surrounded by the calm sea, clothed in scenery of breathtaking beauty, changes the hearts and minds of visitors to the island to a peaceful state of mind.
The island is also dotted with hidden villages that were reached by the fallen Heike clans in the course of its long history, and is an island of great cultural heritage and attractions, where Zen culture has been passed down through the centuries.
We see in this island the potential to become a world-class retreat home, connecting the future of the island with the future of the world.
